ITINERARY & DEPARTURE DATES

Days 1
Arrive and be met at the airport before a transfer to the luxurious, yet homely, Heuglin's lodge. Be pampered by Tammy your Malawian host, as she prepares your delicious three course meal; relax by the private pool or sleep off your travel tiredness in the crisp linen sheets.

Days 2-7

Transfer to Makuzi Beach Lodge for your Yoga and Meditation Retreat. The retreat itinerary lasts for 5 days, but you will have plenty of free time to relax on the private beach, take a gentle paddle in one of the kayaks or soak up the sun and forget about any stresses.

Days 8-10
After recharging your batteries you can't but help to want to find out more about the local communities. You have the opportunity to spend your final few days at Makuzi helping out in the tree nursery, local school or vegetable garden that Lara (the owner of Makuzi beach and an adopted daughter of the local Chief!) has helped the local communities to set-up.

Days 11-13
The 580 sq km of Liwonde National Park is Malawi’s prime wildlife area. The Park encompasses the wide and scenic Shire River, as well as quiet backwaters and lagoons, marshes, open savannah and floodplain, mopane woodland and hills; habitat which support an incredible diversity of plants, animals and birdlife.

Mvuu Camp is the sole lodge in the park and offers boat trips and game drives, both during the day and at night. Boat trips are the highlight and are the most exciting way to see the Park’s elephants as well as the huge crocodiles and copious amounts of hippos!

You will also have the chance to go on walks with qualified scouts, to see large breeding herds of elephant, plenty of hippo, crocodile, sable antelope, impala, reedbuck, oribi, leopard, serval and possibly lion. The Park is regarded as one of the finest birding spots in Africa - both for the number of species and the relative ease with which the ‘specials’ can be seen. Of course, the evenings are spent in traditional African style, watching the sunset on the veranda of your chalet with a cool, iced drink and chatting about the day’s events as your dinner is prepared and the hippos graze outside your door.

Day 14
Transfer back to Lilongwe and Heuglin's Lodge.
